I was sent this book for review from White Bird Publications.

House on Blackbird Lane was a very entertaining and mysterious story surrounding a newly published author named Lexie, and her eccentric publicist and best friend, Roxie. Lexie and Roxie begin the adventure of a lifetime after Lexie confides in Roxie that she has been seeing images of a house in South Carolina that she can’t seem to get out of her head.

After a while of not sleeping, Lexie and Roxie go on a vacation together to get a much needed break from this mysterious house that won’t leave Lexie alone. All is going well until Roxie wakes up one night to see the image of the house coming from the TV.

Roxie and Lexie must uncover the meaning behind the images while delving into Lexie’s past to get a better grasp on why the images have been presenting themselves.

A fun and quick read, House on Blackbird Lane had a great many twists and turns to keep me guessing the entire time. I enjoyed this story, but did have a few problems with the main characters which may be nit-picky, but were what kept me from rating it a 4 or 5. One issue was the insta-love between a few different characters. I’m not a huge fan of that in any story and unfortunately this story included that towards the end of the book. The other issue was how dramatic everything was. The story was pretty awesome, but the main character was either freaking out or crying every other chapter and that became slightly frustrating.

Neither of those things really detract from the main story line at all, but are things that kept me from giving this novel a higher rating.

Overall this was an enjoyable read and I do recommend it for fans of mysteries and thrillers.
